Product Owner

Overall Job Purpose

The Product Owner is responsible for the technical information flow between AMS-IX’s Technical Business Units, Marketing, Sales, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Product Owner takes the lead of subsets of Scrum team activities in support of the Product Manager and helps provide vision and direction to the sprint teams and stakeholders.
  • The Product Owner supports/assists with backlog management, i.e. with planning and prioritisation of the backlog according to business value and the feedback of other internal stakeholders, as well as with iteration planning and elaboration of user stories.
  • The Product Owner ensures that the sprint teams have an adequate amount of well-prepared user stories to work on and plays an active role in mitigating impediments impacting the successful team completion of sprint goals.
  • The Product Owner ensures that the information about the product(s) is always up to date and available to AMS-IX’s internal/external stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with the AMS-IX Technical team, the Product Owner translates technical information into features.
  • The Product Owner keeps abreast of Agile/Scrum best practices.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Computer Science
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
  • 3 plus years of experience as a Product Owner, IT Project Manager, IT Business Developer or equivalent field
  • 3 plus years of experience in managing cross-functional project teams
  • 3 plus years of experience in implementing large-scale projects
  • Lives and breathes Agile processes (Scrum framework is a prerequisite)
  • Proven experience with Project management of applications such as JIRA/Monday, as well as new-age applications
  • Strong understanding/knowledge of Computer Networking
  • 1 plus year of experience with ITIL

Executive Assistant

Overall Job Purpose

The Executive Assistant assists the CEO and management team as well as the AMS-IX supervisory board with all administrative, organisational and operational matters. This role requires a highly organised and flexible attitude to switch easily between different tasks and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Meetings: Preparing the agenda, supporting files and minutes of management team meetings, Board meetings, general meetings, etc. Example: Coordinate logistics of the meeting, compose the agenda in close cooperation with the involved stakeholders, including preparation of presentations and files, and monitor follow up on action points.
  • Assist Management Team: Managing calendars of management team, acting as a point of contact for internal and external parties and independent handling of e-mail and correspondence. Example: plan meetings and make travel arrangements for management team.
  • Assist AMS-IX Supervisory Board: Support the Board chair in planning Board meetings, produce meeting minutes and follow up action items. If needed help coordinate travel and logistics. Example: Plan meetings rooms, prepare Board materials.
  • Coordinate management team communication: Coordinating management team communication in close alignment with Corporate communication specialist. Example: Prepare documents (e.g. presentations, posters, e-mails) for internal communications.
  • Archiving and filing: Ensuring archiving and filing of relevant documents (e.g. presentations, minutes, action points etc.). Example: Publish relevant documents and filter written and oral communicationQualifications and Competencies

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Pre-university degree, secretarial degree or bachelor’s degree

Network Engineer

The role

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our Network Operations Centre (NOC).

Key responsibilities

Ensure proper operation of AMS-IX infrastructure worldwide

  • Implement solutions for new services and features
  • Implement solutions for platform extensions and upgrades
  • Participate in our on-call shift schedule
  • Receive and handle escalations from our FLS

Technical skills

  • A sound IT background, specializing in the area of networking
  • Experience with the management of MPLS/VPLS, Ethernet, and IP networks, and understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects, as well as protocols that are required to build and maintain them
  • Experience with configuring BGP and a good understanding of routing protocols
  • Experience with creating automation scripts, preferably using Bash and Python
  • Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot complex, technical problems
  • Good insight in the structure and relations that make up the internet
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix environment
  • Experience in composing detailed, technical documentation


  • Understanding of the concept of a route server and Bird configuration experience
  • Knowledge of VxLAN/eVPN

Software Developer

Job description

Our developers are independent, self-organised, individual contributors who work together as a Scrum team. You will play a significant role in building the future of the Internet by delivering optimal software.

Your key responsibilities

  • Design and implement new software solutions and participate in refactoring of the existing software to help AMS-IX improve its products and services
  • Ensure test coverage hits the target, and overall stability and availability are at a high level
  • Collaborate with colleagues from Network Operations Centre and Customer Support departments to get to the bottom of user-reported issues and come up with robust solutions
  • Create and maintain documentation around features and configurations


  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a professional software developer, preferably using 2 or more different programming languages
  • Your main language will be Ruby (mostly with Ruby on Rails), but we also have applications written in Perl and modern Javascript
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational data storages
  • Experience using version-control systems and CI/CD pipelines
  • Eager to learn and always on top of new technologies, but still able to pick the right tools for the right job. Pragmatism is totally “your thing”.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Team player and able to act as a source of knowledge with colleagues

Security Engineer

Job description

The Security Engineer ensures AMS-IX is protected against (IT) security incidents, ensuring business continuity. The Security Engineer is responsible for all operational IT security, including but not limited to the installation and maintenance of AMS-IX’ (IT) security tooling. As part of the IT team, it is expected the Security Engineer will also be involved in other IT related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Security management: Install, maintain and trouble shoot firewalls, VPN and other IT security tooling. These tools are used both in the office environment as well as for the AMS-IX platform. This requires close cooperation with InfoSec and SysAdmin teams. Example: Install and maintain firewall and VPN based on AMS-IX standards, enforcing security policies across AMS-IX production platforms as well as office environment
  • SIEM/Security LOG management: Continuous review of SIEM and/or log data and act accordingly on incident and problems. Example: Develop framework for logging and follow up. Set up SIEM environment in conjunction with IT, SysAdmin and InfoSec to ensure enforcement of (IT) security policies
  • Identity and Access Management: Ensuring p(only) the right people have access to the appropriate tools and information. This cuts across access to physical locations, tooling but also user profiles with applications. Example: Maintain user profiles in accordance with AMS-IX policies, making use of Active Directory, Radius, SSO and MFA tooling
  • Linux : As Linux is an important component to the AMS-IX production platform this role requires knowledge of and experience with Linux (preferable RHEL, Debian). Example: Support the implementation of RBAC translating the overarching Active Directory policies, groups and objects to Linux infrastructure
  • General IT Management: Next to (IT) Security also support the AMS-IX users with generic IT management activities like maintaining desktops, printers, network, etc. Example: Install applications on Apple desktop, resolve IT incidents, etc.


  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in IT and/or Security Management or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in IT Security management.
  • Information Security Framework (ISO 27001)
  • Firewall and VPN (preferably Palo Alto, Juniper, Pulse Secure)
