Network Engineer
The role
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our Network Operations Centre (NOC).
Key responsibilities
Ensure proper operation of AMS-IX infrastructure worldwide
- Implement solutions for new services and features
- Implement solutions for platform extensions and upgrades
- Participate in our on-call shift schedule
- Receive and handle escalations from our FLS
Technical skills
- A sound IT background, specializing in the area of networking
- Experience with the management of MPLS/VPLS, Ethernet, and IP networks, and understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects, as well as protocols that are required to build and maintain them
- Experience with configuring BGP and a good understanding of routing protocols
- Experience with creating automation scripts, preferably using Bash and Python
- Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot complex, technical problems
- Good insight in the structure and relations that make up the internet
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix environment
- Experience in composing detailed, technical documentation
Nice-to-haves
- Understanding of the concept of a route server and Bird configuration experience
- Knowledge of VxLAN/eVPN
- Scripting experience in Perl
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible/Salt
- Ability to understand and speak Dutch
Soft skills
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Good communication skills and teamwork mentality
- Ability to work in a small team of highly skilled professionals
- Open-mindedness, eagerness to learn, and ability to adapt
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Additional requirements
- Driving license (and willingness to drive)

Software Developer - Perl
Job description
As Developer you are providing first line support for our automated provisioning process as well as assisting in refactoring and implementing new services.
Your key responsibilities
- Work on our provisioning back-end, connecting our provisioning systems to the network components
- Provide scripting support for the rest of the technical team (SysOps, NOC, WebDev, Engineering) to help monitor and automate tasks on our Linux server infrastructure
Profile
- Experience with Perl (Python is also desirable)
- Experience building and/or consuming REST APIs
- Experience working with SCRUM
- Experience with test-driven development
- Experience of Continuous Integration is beneficial
- Experience with Git and Subversion
- Experience with development on Linux systems
- Experience with Linux command line, ability to do (at least) minor administrative tasks on a Linux system
- Understanding of basic network protocols (TCP, UDP)
- Knowledge and understanding of the Intranet and Internet infrastructure market is a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of DevOps is a plus
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to think fast and keep calm
- Have the ability to multitask and manage deadlines
- Candidate must be detail-oriented and accurate
- Have the ability to express and understand complex issues in English both verbally and in writing
