AMS-IX, one of the largest interconnection platforms in the world, has added Microsoft Azure Peering Service to its Cloud portfolio. Enterprises and other organisations connected to AMS-IX will benefit from high-quality connectivity to Microsoft cloud services giving them and their customers a firm base for digitalisation and digital transformation.

Azure Peering service is a layer 2 networking solution specifically designed for enterprises who want high-quality and cost-effective connectivity to Microsoft cloud services like Azure and Microsoft 365. Using this service will give enterprises optimized routing and reliable connections to Microsoft, which will enable them with the best possible digital experience when using Microsoft services like Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365.

AMS-IX users who use Microsoft Azure Peering Service will connect directly to the Global Microsoft Network via a port on the AMS-IX platform. Their traffic will be prioritized on the Global Microsoft Network and will be routed to the nearest Edge PoP on the Microsoft Network. And last, MAPS will allow for route analysis and traffic insights. This enables customers to optimize their Microsoft traffic routing.

AMS-IX CEO Peter van Burgel: “We are very pleased to add this new service to our cloud portfolio and see it as a great addition for our enterprise base. Microsoft Azure Peering Services is very cost-effective since it allows you to enhance the quality of your Microsoft services via a public connection. Especially enterprises with a distributed network design will benefit greatly from MAPS.”

Yves Pitsch, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft: “Microsoft welcomes AMS-IX’s participation as a partner for Microsoft Azure Peering Service. The Azure Peering Service will optimize latency and maximize the performance for enterprises that connect to Microsoft’s services, supporting customers with a variety of work styles and locations.”
