AMS-IX

February 9, 2021

AMS-IX has appointed Ruben van den Brink (42) as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Ruben van den Brink has over ten years experience in several senior management positions. He started his career as an academic researcher in mathematics at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. In 2008 he left the academic world to start working for Technicolor, later Ericsson Broadcast Services. There, he held several key management positions, in the network, storage and datacenter business units. Prior to joining AMS-IX, Ruben worked for about 5 years at SURFnet, where he was Head of Network Services and advisor in the emerging field of Quantum Technology.

In his role as CTO, Ruben first and foremost is going to take the lead over the technical team and guide them in the digital transformation process of AMS-IX. The organisation is currently automating many processes and is changing the way it supports the market. The CTO plays a pivotal role in this digital transformation process. Ruben van den Brink starts his new job in March, succeeding Henk Steenman who retired in December 2020.

Ruben van den Brink, CTO of AMS-IX:

“It is phenomenal to be part of an organisation that plays such a fundamental role in the functioning of the Internet. I look forward to working with a team of proud professionals and be part of the future of the Internet.”

Peter van Burgel, CEO of AMS-IX, states:

“In response to the rapidly changing market conditions, AMS-IX is currently going through a digital transformation and our CTO plays a key role to make this a success. We are really happy to welcome Ruben to our organisation as he brings extensive knowledge and experience from both the world of Interconnection and Digital Transformation.”
