Step 1. Requirements
There is a number of requirements and conditions that all AMS-IX members have to comply with before becoming a member of the AMS-IX Association and connecting to the AMS-IX peering platform:
1. You must represent a recognised legal entity (a company).
2. Your network must have an ASN (Autonomous System Number).
The applicants network must have its own ASN assigned by a Regional Internet Registry, being either; RIPE-NCC, APNIC, LACNIC, ARIN or by a Local Internet Registry. This is checked in the application process so the ASN must be assigned to the specified legal entity.
3. The primary function of your business (unit) must be Internet related.
In the application process this is checked by following the URL you provide during the application, this should provide prove of the Internet business activity you are in.
4. You must have the intention to and be willing to sign the AMS-IX Connection Agreement.
The AMS-IX Connection Agreement was modified in May 2009 (General Meeting 26) and is standard for all AMS-IX members. Since we represent an Association the conditions of connecting must be the same for all connected parties, no negotiations on the conditions are in order.

5. You must have an agreement with the chosen co-location or be known to them in case of remote connection.
During the application process we will check with the colocation of your choice if you have an agreement with them or if you are otherwise known to them through a partner/carrier, before we will enable your port at their facility. So you must either arrange a contract with the co-location of your choice to place equipment locally or if your equipment is physically located at another location and a third party is providing you with connection services to one of our locations then they will have to announce you to the colocation.
This third party or your carrier must have an agreement with the datacenter/colocation for connecting and arranging local cross-connects at their site, covering this condition. However please note it is your responsibility to make sure the third party announces you and orders the local cross-connect to the AMS-IX patch panel in order to have a positive check during the application process.
Please take a look at the co-locations to see which co-location best suits your needs and make contact with your chosen location(s) via the contact details provided.
