Hurricane Electric Expands in Amsterdam
Back to Archives20 July 2005
Hurricane Electric, AMS-IX Member since 3 November 2004, announced today that it has increased the size of its connection to AMS-IX. This upgrade comes just six months after Hurricane Electric expanded its global network, ranked among the top in the world, to the Amsterdam area.
Hurricane Electric upgraded its connection to the AMS-IX peering fabric from a Gigabit Ethernet port to a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port. This upgrade will dramatically increase the amount of traffic Hurricane Electric can handle over its network and will give it the ability to peer with many more participants at the AMS-IX exchange point. The upgrade will further develop its European connectivity and benefit its customers with more capacity, increased reliability, and faster throughput.
“The popularity of the AMS-IX exchange required an almost immediate increase in the size of the link. We are committed to continuous improvement of our European connectivity,” said Mike Leber, Hurricane Electric president.
