Amsterdam Internet Exchange starts partner program
~ easy access to exchange services ~
Amsterdam
Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), one of Europe’s largest independent ‘marketplaces’
for exchanging internet traffic is making its services available through
partners. Consequently market parties such as the AMS-IX members, housing locations,
and other ICT companies are able to resell the AMS-IX services.
Up to now the exchange services of AMS-IX - offering the
opportunity to interchange traffic with other members connected to the platform, also called ‘peering’ - were
only available through the Association, in which all of the large Dutch ISP’s
and a lot of foreign parties are joined. Many of the current members are
interested in the program, since to add new members through the program will
enable them to use their exchange ports even more effectively. Moreover
becoming partners themselves strengthens their service portfolio by adding
professional exchange services.
The complete service offering of AMS-IX is now accessible for the Partners’
customers. Through their own port on the AMS-IX platform, connected customers
can exchange many types of IP traffic, such as mobile IP data or just basic ISP
traffic,
AMS-IX will support the partners extensively technically, but
especially in the marketing and sales area. Meanwhile several parties have
expressed serious interest to join the program.
“Internet traffic is still growing fast and the market is continuously seeking
for the most efficient use of web-connections” says Job Witteman, CEO of
AMS-IX. “The exchange of traffic over our platform will become even more
attractive as more parties connect to exchange traffic with. We are convinced
that partners can add considerable value in further developing the peering
platform, and additionally that our services are a valuable addition to their
own portfolio.“
“TeleCity is one of the first parties working with AMS-IX as
reseller-partner to take up the exchange services in its portfolio. We are
convinced that this addition to our portfolio is very attractive for new
customers” says Alexandra Schless, Country Manager TeleCity Netherlands. “AMS-IX
is developing strongly as provider of exchange services and we are pleased that
we are offered the opportunity to join in this development.”

NOTE FOR THE EDITORs
About AMS-IX
AMS-IX is a non-profit, neutral and independent,
professional exchange. The beginnings of the exchange can be traced back to the
early 1990's. On the 29th of December 1997 AMS-IX was established as an
Association in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, operating under Dutch Law.
At present all major Dutch ISPs, many
international ISPs and other important parties in the telecommunications market
are members of the association and have established connections with the AMS-IX
platform and are peering – exchanging IP traffic – with each other at national
and international level. Consequently high costs, and complex management of
multiple connections with each other is being spared.
