Amsterdam Internet Exchange signs housing contract with TeleCity

Amsterdam,

Job Witteman, Managing Director of AMS-IX BV, has signed a housing contract with TeleCity. By the end of September, AMS-IX will deploy a new Foundry BigIron switch at the TeleCity Kuiperbergweg location in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost. AMS-IX will thus be able to offer connectivity in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost to her current and future customers as well.

Because of the fast growth of number of connections at AMS-IX, and the growing need of the connected parties to house their mission critical equipment in a professionally conditioned and managed environment close to the AMS-IX switches, AMS-IX has determined a selection of vendors of these services.

Driving force for this process is the growing need for redundancy, both in the geographical as in the technical sense, and a broader variety in co-location and other services providing companies.

Important criteria for AMS-IX in the selection process are the commitment of the co-lo to offer any and all current and future AMS-IX customers, long term neutral and independent housing facilities.

The co-lo is also to provide and guarantee unlimited bandwidth between the new location and the existing switches at the Science Park at the Watergraafsmeer.

During this process TeleCity has proven with their new location in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost to meet AMS-IX demands. TeleCity also proves to be a dedicated partner both to the AMS-IX and to its members.

Since 1997 AMS-IX offers Internet Service Providers in a professional manner a neutral and independent platform where they can exchange IP-traffic. AMS-IX is a non-profit organisation and connects well over 100 ISP's.

TeleCity is active in the Netherlands since 1999 and operates facilities for customers to locate and operate computing, networking and telecommunications equipment.
