IX in a box

As one of the largest IXs and an increasingly public profile we often get ‘consulted’ by start-up and developing exchanges for tips and tricks of the trade. So last year we introduced a support program called “IX in a box” under the flag of enabling Internet progress for the “Good of the Internet". Strong, well set-up exchanges attribute to the resilience and stability of the Internet as a whole.

The program is about helping or supporting (emerging) exchanges according to our model and values in OTHER locations around the world (ie. not extend the Amsterdam fabric to these locations). As there is a large strategic element to this, with potential high positive (or negative) impact on the AMS-IX organization and name it deserves a seperate mention here.

The first project that was done is the CAR-IX - the Caribbean Internet Exchange in Curacao that was launched officially in March 2009.
