First AMS-IX extension location realised at TelecityGroup Netherlands

13 September 2010

10 gigabit AMS-IX ports now also available at TelecityGroup’s Amstel Business Park

Amsterdam, 13 September 2010. Engineers from TelecityGroup and AMS-IX have finalised the construction of AMS-IX’s very first extension location. The honour goes to TelecityGroup’s Amstel Business Park data centre. By using the latest technology available, based on DWDM, Amstel Business Park has the same function as any other location with an AMS-IX Point of Presence. With this extension AMS-IX, one of the largest internet exchanges in the World, acts on the ever growing demand for connections to its peering platform.

AMS-IX CEO Job Witteman: “As a peering platform it is important for us to offer our customers a great diversity of suitable co-location partners. At the same time we want to remain ahead when it comes to innovations within the field of data centres. TelecityGroup’s Amstel Business Park is one of the most advanced data centres in Amsterdam. A few of our members commented early on that they would like to see availability of our services there. With this new solution we are able to expand our successful cooperation to the latest TelecityGroup data centre.”

Alexandra Schless, Managing Director TelecityGroup Netherlands: “As we are always striving for optimal connectivity for our customers, a connection to the AMS-IX peering platform at our youngest data centre Amstel Business Park has been on our wish list for quite some time. We are very proud to be able to offer this connection now. The new AMS-IX extension location also marks our third milestone this year in relation to AMS-IX, after doubling the number of connection points in February and obtaining the AMS-ix certified accreditation in April.”
