Events

The Internet and especially the peering community is a very close-knit, technically oriented and collaborative group of people. The community is very well served by occasions that facilitate social interaction amongst its members, with the ultimate goal of easing and increasing peering traffic. Over the year AMS-IX (co) organizes, attends and sponsors several local and International events, conferences and forums aimed at facilitating social interaction and sharing of knowledge.

Local Events

Close to home AMS-IX organizes two general and technical meetings a year, usually followed by a social such as the annual members barbeque. During RIPE week Amsterdam AMS-IX organizes its annual party, which is regularly attended by 350+ conference attendees and AMS-IX relations.

Peering Forums

The Global Peering Forum (GPF) and the European Peering Forum (EPF), both organized on a yearly basis, are very peering centric events, operated on a by-invitation basis for peering coordinators, managers or network engineers involved in peering set up.

The forums themselves are organized by Host IX's and sponsored. There is no fee for attendees though they must cover their own transportation and hotel costs. Topics at previously organized forums were amongst others: future data center developments, IPV6 peering experience and peering expansion strategies.

Conferences

The Network Operators Group conferences around the world (RIPE, NANOG, APRICOT, MENOG, RIPE regional etc.) are very important for AMS-IX. We actively contribute either by attending or sponsoring but preferably by speaking on topics related toe peering or Exchanges.

If you are interested in which event AMS-IX is organizing, attending or speaking at in the nearby future please check out our calendar.
