Step 5: The Connecting Process
After completing and submitting the AMS-IX Entry Form the following will happen:
- You will be sent 2 copies of the AMS-IX Connection Agreement.
Both of these copies must be signed and the appendices initialized
by the contractual contact person (CCP), and then sent back to the
following address before its expiration date:
AMS-IX bv
Westeinde 12
1017 ZN AMSTERDAM
The Netherlands
Unsigned Connection Agreements expire two months after being drawn up.
- At the same time your membership application form will be
forwarded to the AMS-IX management for approval, this approximately takes
a period of one working week.
- Once the application is approved by the management and upon timely
receipt of the signed Connection Agreement, you will receive a copy
of the Connection Agreement which has now been countersigned by the
Managing Director of AMS-IX bv. AMS-IX will start the process of
assigning/configuring a port for you.
- Taking into account your envisioned date of connection or within
3 working days your TCP will be contacted by our engineers with details
of the port assignment. (Please inform info@ams-ix.net
if the envisioned date of connection should be changed.) You will receive information regarding your port
number, your IP number, FQDN and other matters of importance concerning
your port configuration.
- Note that you will be charged ten working days after the assignment
date.
- Your port will initially be placed in a
Quarantine VLAN.
At this time you are able to physically install/configure your router and other equipment at your chosen housing location(s). You should then contact your chosen housing location(s) with this information and ask them to finalise the cabling and verify Layer 1 connectivity.
Once this is done you can contact the AMS-IX NOC during office hourse on +31 (20) 514 17 17 or noc@ams-ix.net (quoting your 'project number') and ask them to bring the interface into the appropriate production LAN. You are now live!!!
- You are invited to set up peering with AMS-IX B.V. on
AS1200, see the
Peering with AS1200 page
for more information.
- At this stage you are also able to set up peering with other connected members. Look at the list of members page for details on their peering policies and contact details.
